WS-1000 WeatherStation™ Technical Specifications
TIME:
Time is displayed in a four digit 12 hour format.
When a Maximum or Minimum is recalled, the day and month of the
occurrence are first displayed and then the time to
the nearest hour in 24 hour format.
INSIDE TEMPERATURE:
Range: -40°F. to +127°F.
Switch provided to change readout from Fahrenheit to Celsius.
Transducer: Calibrated diode type sensor mounted within the station.
Accuracy: ± 1.0°F. @ 25°C.
OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE:
Range: -40°F. to +127°F.
Switch provided to change readout from Fahrenheit to Celsius.
Transducer: Calibrated diode type sensor encapsulated in epoxy.
Supplied with 40 feet of connecting cable.
(Mounted in the same housing as the Relative Humidity sensor.)
Accuracy: ± 1.0°F. @ 25°C.
BAROMETRIC PRESSURE:
Range: 28 to 32 inches of Mercury. Switch for millibars.
Maximums and Minimums recorded and stored.
Transducer: A frictionless aneroid in cooperation with
a linear Hall sensor.
Accuracy: ± 0.1 inches of Mercury. Resolution 0.01 inches of Mercury.
Altitude adjustment to 10,000 feet. Indicates rising or falling.
WIND DIRECTION:
Scale: 0 to 360 degrees by 10 degree increments.
Transducer: The rotating vane magnetically generates a
nine bit binary code which determines direction.
Accuracy: ± 5 degrees.
WIND SPEED:
Range: 0 to 150 mph.
Switch provided to change from mph to knots or kilometers per hour.
Transducer: A slotted hub, driven by a multi-vane rotor and
optically coupled to provide a digital electronic output.
Accuracy: ± 2% at upper and lower ends. ± 1% @ 35 mph.
WIND CHILL:
Range: -127°F to +85°F.
Readout will be in °F. or °C. (same as Outdoor Temperature)
Transducer: The Wind Speed and Outdoor Temperature outputs are
fed into the microprocessor and the calculated resultant
wind chill is displayed. The calculations are based upon the
equation developed by Dr. Paul Siple from tests made at Antarctica.
Accuracy: ± 2°F based upon input.
RELATIVE HUMIDITY:
Range: 0 to 99.0%.
Transducer: Capacitive polymer.
Supplied with 40 feet of connecting cable.
(in same housing as the Outdoor Temperature).
Accuracy: ± 2.0% of full scale @ 25°C.
The sensor is temperature compensated by the microprocessor.
RAINFALL:
Range: 99.99 inches by 0.01 inch increments.
Switch provided to change from inches to millimeters.
System records accumulation for any period plus current rainfall.
Transducer: Tipping bucket (which is self emptying) causes
hermetically sealed magnetically actuated switch to pulse
for each 0.01 inches of rain.
Accuracy: ± 0.01 inch per inch of rainfall.
The gauge meets the NWS specifications for collector size.
It is unharmed by freezing, however count accuracy during
such periods is suspect.
The WS-1000 is the most accurate home weather station I have ever tried.
The humidity sensor is as accurate as many precision dial hygrometers.
It also works very well even at low humidity levels of 5% to 10%.
This instrument is the source for all hourly weather data.
Rainwise service and support is excellent. I recommend them highly.
